Broken Ankle

About 3 years ago I broke my ankle and I still have problems with pain til this day. I wish that there was something to do but the best I can do at this point is take some advil before running a long race. It is really bad when it is going to rain!

Re: Broken Ankle

I had a bad sprain 4 years ago and my ankle just isn't the same! It doesn't really bother me with plain running or cycling, but I have to be really careful if I ride BMX or play football. It's not bad now but I had to be extra careful for a good 2 years of healing.

I'm not sure what kind of remedies there are for long-prior injuries like that.

Re: Broken Ankle

I don't know what to advise but i am in a similar position. I broke my Tibia at the bottom of my leg 13 months ago now. i have been running for about six months now but doing more mileage for 3 months now. It has been hurting more and more. However since I started doing just one long run at the weekend( this week 18 miles) combined with faster , shorter runs during the week, ranging from 1.5 miles to 5 miles i have found that I have been feeling better during the week when I was getting most of the pain. Also, I must add that the long run at the weekend is a run walk. I run for 10 minutes and walk for a minute. It means I don't get too tired and don't hurt myself. This may not be the thing for you but it certainly is the only way that I can get a long done without injuring myself further. I hope this is of some help.

Re: Broken Ankle

Is there anyone else here who has taken up running again after having a broken ankle?
