400m and 800m

I am a highschool runner who has just started running the 400m and 800m for my team. At the developmental meet my time for the 400 is 59.98 and for the 800m it was 2:30, however the conditions were horrible the wind and rain had a huge impact on one strightaway i believe. My personal best 200 time is 26 and for the 100 is 12 flat. I have not been able to drop either of those times no matter how much I tried. I would like to get these times to drop as soon and as low as possible. I am 16 yrs old 5 2 and weigh about 107 lbs. Any tips for training or running these events is appreciated

Re: 400m and 800m

If the conditions were truly bad, don't worry about it, both your times should improve. If you're running a 12 second 100, you may be more of a sprinter, so the 800 just may not be your race. A 2:30 is respectable though

To get your times to drop just do what your coach asks you to do, and don't over train. Depending on your coach, they should know what they're doing and set you up to drop your times over the course of the season.

Just go out a have fun.

With your 400 time, you should be under 2:10 in the 800 Meters!
