I am interested to know what you all have done in the past for some hard workouts.

Please also tell me what distance this workout is guided towards.

the hardest workout ive ever done is prolly doing an 800-800-800-600-600-600 at RACE PACE. so ur running them all liek an actual RACE!!!! that was very difficult

my coach says the hardest workout he's ever done in high school was 25 400s

Keep your miles up. The base will do you well. The only thing you have to keep track of is not doing too many "hard" days in a row. For me, a 20 miler at easy pace is not a hard run, but for others it is. Just make your adjustments accordingly. If you're very concerned, throw in one "cut-back" week before you begin, but there's no reason at all to reduce your base. In fact, you can probably get away with just keeping up your base and jumping in at about week 6 or 8.
