NEW DELHI - An Indian human rights group on Wednesday urged action against officials in the state of Orissa who it said had endangered the life of a four-year-old boy by making him run for seven hours in sweltering temperatures. Local TV stations and newspapers splashed Budhia Singh’s image over screens and frontpages on Tuesday after the boy ran for 65 km (40 miles) in a successful bid to become the youngest Indian to cover that distance.

And I thought my parents were a pain in the butt! Then again, the parents may not have had anything to do with forcing th eboy to run. It says they urged state action against "officials," so who knows?

Its amazing what people do (or do to others) just for 15 minutes of fame or to break a world record. However, I think that is bad parenting!

Why would you make your kid do that? That should be child endangerment. Here they would either slap you with a medal, or a fine.

In response to GMason, where can I view the video? Is it available on-line? I'd like to watch it.
