Estrogen and Progesterone are the two basic hormones produced in the woman’s ovaries which start to reduce as she ages. Hormone replacement therapy (http://www.lahealthandrejuvenation.com/) is basically reinforcing the body with these hormones during and after the menopause period, and with sufficient increase of these hormones, your body is able to reduce the effects of menopause symptoms.

I suggest that anyone looking at HRT be sure that they get bio-identical hormones. Non bio-identicals were recently listed in the JAMA as increasing risk of cancer by 38%. Is anyone else here in perimenopause? What do you use to deal with hot flashes? I refuse HRT so I've been trying to deal with my symptoms through natural medicine. I get regular acupuncture, take herbs, and use one of these to cool my bed at night: http://www.chilitechnology.com/ I've also gone on an all organic whole food diet - and eliminated sugar, caffeine, alcohol, and refined flour. So far I think I have it managed, but I'm not 100% yet. Just wondering what else people are doing as I'm always looking for suggestions.
