Start slowly and build up
Lots of new runners get carried away and try to do too much too soon. This can lead to disappointment, loss of enthusiasm and possibly injury. If you want to be able to enjoy running for the rest of your life, start out slowly and build up.

Definetly very important... I myself when I was starting to run actually hurt myself because I practiced too hard the first week, and I paid for it the rest of the season.

Not a smart decision, you can practice hard, but don't take it too far, if you start feeling pain or injury, back off, you can always come back.

Plan it:
Plan a progressive running program to prevent injuries. A five-minute warm-up (which should raise your temperature by one degree) followed by stretching exercises, is essential before starting a run. Following the run, stretching again is important.
