I'd like to do some hill training, but live in a flat area. What ways are there (if any) to get in some sort of hill training?

Drive or have someone drive you to a ski park in the summer. That's what I do because thats the only place with huge hills. Otherwise just search the roads for hills anywhere. MAyeb talk with your friends and see if they know of any hills.

Thanks for the advice. It got me thinking and, yeah, I know two areas that are hilly. Both are like at least 20 miles away, though. One is a busy street. The hill here is huge, but with all the traffic, I don't know about breathing in all that pollution. One other area is a recreation park. It's beautiful and has a lake, lots of trails up the mountain. I ran there once years ago, found it by accident (when I used to drive to just explore). There's a shooting range next to it. Kind of creeped me out, like some maniac with a shotgun was going to hunt me down or something while I ran. My speed did pick up that day.:)
There's a couple of other parks closer where I used to run. They had some small hills. It's been a few years, so I have to check them out first. Every year, the parks around here get smaller because some developer wants to build yet more houses.

Just got another idea for hill training...what about a parking garage? Has anyone done this? I park in one at college and it looks so tempting, but I'm afraid I'll be mistaken for a car thief or something, lol.

In Orlando I found all of two or three hills ...Florida's highest point is all of 360 feet or so...I was lucky enough to live by one which I stuck in the mist of my 3 mile course...never ran better than when I was hitting that hill both up and down in training...I would recommend it...if you find a hill that is...;)
