Safety of Running Alone

There was another attack recently at one of the parks I run at. The victim was a woman and the attack occurred at around 5 p.m. (which is usually a time when the trails have decent traffic on them). With a toddler, the only times I get a chance to run is before dawn or past sunset (I know these trails like the back of my hand; no flashlight necessary). I've been running lately on major roads around my house, but it's not as fun as trail running. I've thought about carrying mace, but doubt that'd actually work. Guess I'm stuck with street running until my toddler gets older.

Mace might work, but why risk it? like you said, if it isn't safe u should keep running on the roads. Saftey is more important than running location: at least to me.
