Hi, I recently started running because I joined the military and I have to run 1.5 miles in under 10 minutes before I leave. I have been running for two weeks around a track. I don't have much problem with the physical exertion, but I get a recurring cramp in my right calf (just that one) and today in the joint between my leg and my foot (for a lack of better terms.)

I have watched some videos on Youtube about proper form and warming up. I don't know if I should keep stretching beforehand or not - the debate is little over my head. I don't know if some better stretches will help my calf and the joints in my feet? I do know that I probably shouldn't run tomorrow. I would most greatly appreciate any speculation or general advice about my problem. Thanks.

Try stretching after you run as well. When your muscles are warm your stretching will prove better results.

It could also be how you are landing on your feet, if you experience a calf cramp you could be to far on your toes.

Are you trying to run 1.5 miles under 10 min right off the bat or are you doing a steady warm up?
