Hi I'm Jon. Father of two, 37 years old, and a recreational runner. Looking to get some advice as fall/winter approaches and my mileage increases. Happy to join, will pose my questions in the beginner's forum.

hey, love to see more people running. if you kept a high abse training over the summer. meaning a lot of mileage and you look to be an agressive and competitive runner, what i would do is keep your base jsut a little less high, but have your runs a little faster than before.
some workouts may be like sjut fast road runs, to fartlek(speed play) workouts
ex. 3 mins jog, 2 mins stride, 1 min 80% sprint.(change the times to suit your level.)

jsut keep doing that fall to winter, still makesure you have high base in fall, and end fall- begining winter more fast stuff.

if you dont want to be competative sjut keep fairly high milage, slow it down a lil over fall/winter and back to high mileage spring and summer

good luck have fun and run happy.

jsut keep doing that
