View Full Version : 2 Mile Race......11:19 at Regionals....11:47 at Sectionals!! HOW????? HELP!!!!!!!!!!

How could I run over 30 seconds slower for the smae race only 3 days apart???
I was fresh and ready for it both times. Did 3 similiar warmups, ate and drank the same amount of food within hours of the race. THe only major difference food wise is that for the 11:47 I ate a bigger lunch. It was also much hotter at Sectionals.
When I ran my 11:19 it felt good, like a jog almost and I barely sweat. When I ran my 11:47 I was dripping sweat and tired.I didnt really run the day before my 11:47 but I ran a mile or so before my 11:19. Both workouts days before those times were similiar..maybe the 11:47 one was harder.
What do you think it was?? Maybe a combo of everything above??
I just feel like giving up on runnign because of that horrible performance!!

I've had stuff like this happen before too. It just doesn't seem right, but it happens.

i ran an 11:52 at a hot sweat gym on a 160m track. it was so hot by the middle of the race if you spit it wouldnt make it past your lips. heat and track length definately make a difference. i wouldnt say the lunch would. i was actually hungry during this race...

running is one of those sports where you can do everything right but still have a bad day. its normal and we all have em.
