I have been a runner for about four years or so now. I've done two half-marathons, a 10k and a 5k. I am doing a half marathon in June. I've been doing base training over the winter, anywhere from 20-30 miles a week. I've been doing weights for three years. I am a 19 year old female, 5ft 9 in and 145 pounds. No severe injuries, as of yet. Anyway, here's my question:
I noticed on Sunday that when I was sitting, my hamstrings hurt. they also pulled if I full extended my leg or pulled it towards me. They feel weird going down stairs. They also hurt when I'm finished with my run, but not during. I just recently started doing speed workous again, maybe that is the problem? I do most of my running on treadmills, but my long runs are outside.
The reason I'm even asking is because my running buddy had these same symptoms, but she ignored them. It resulted in her not being able to walk or go downstairs without painfully hobbling. That was three months ago and she is just now able to run a few easy days a week. I DO NOT want this to happen, so does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.
