I'm 27yo, 5'9", 240lbs. I have a decent build but a little out of shape.
My goal is to run 1.5 miles in 12.36 min. I would like to achieve this as quickly as possible because i only have about 4-6 months to accomplish this. I'm going to go with 4 months to be safe. I know this probably sounds like nothing but the 2 biggest problems I am facing is 1) Lack of endurance and 2) Shin splints after the first few days. I figured out that i have to run at least 7mph without stopping to make the 12.36 min. mark. I am also dieting to help me get down to 200lbs. I am not currently running yet, I am looking for someone to give me a good plan to attack. Thank you.
