I've just decided to make running my new hobby. I really enjoy running but I'm pretty clueless about where to start and how to improve. So far the longest I've ran is a little over 2 miles which is really great for me but it seems that after the two mile mark my body just aches to much (especially my knees) to keep going. Is there something that I'm doing wrong or is this completely normal? How do I over come this? I'm wanting to improve but I'm not sure what steps to take.

If running is a new hobby, that's normal, because running is hard on your joints.

Start slow and only do 1 mile at a time to start, although you can do it 3-5 times per week. Try running on soft surfaces, too. (You could also throw in some core-conditioning exercises to help your stamina, which should take care of your other body aches.)

It's better to start slower than necessary than to do too much and end up with overuse injuries.

also are you running on pavement? This can be a nightmare on the knees especially if you have never run before. How about trail running? Is this an option for you in your area?
